In a gripping best-of-seven series at the Call of Duty League Major 4, Los Angeles Thieves emerged victorious with a 4-2 win over Atlanta FaZe.
The Grand Final kicked off with a strong performance from Los Angeles Thieves in the opening Red Card Hardpoint, where they secured a dominant 250–177 win. Thieves consolidated their early victory on Rewind Search & Destroy, coming out on top 6–4. Thieves showed tactical precision and composure in clutch rounds, securing the victory and going up 2-0 in the series.
FaZe responded with a solid 3–2 win in Protocol Control, as they looked to get back into in the series. They did just that on Skyline Hardpoint, where they narrowly defeated Thieves 250–235 in a tense and tightly contested match. Thieves pushed hard, but FaZe held their nerve to close out the map and equalise the series at 2–2.
With the series tied, the momentum shifted to Thieves in Red Card Search & Destroy, where they dominated FaZe 6-3. FaZe struggled to break through Thieves’ defence, and the Thieves capitalised on their opportunities, securing a crucial win to push ahead 3–2 in the series.
In what turned out to be the final map, Control Hacienda, Los Angeles Thieves sealed the series with a dominant 3-0 victory. They outplayed FaZe in every aspect, with their superior strategy and execution closing out the match and confirming their 4–2 series win.
Key performances came from Paco “HyDra” Rusiewiez and Thomas “Scrappy” Ernst of Los Angeles Thieves, both of whom played pivotal roles in the victory. HyDra finished with 132 kills, 116 deaths, and a 1.14 K/D ratio for the series, while Scrap added 121 kills, 115 deaths, and a 1.05 K/D ratio. Their contributions were instrumental in securing critical victories in the final maps.
Despite strong individual efforts from Chris “Simp” Lehr and McArthur “Cellium” Jovel on FaZe’s side, FaZe could not recover after losing momentum in the later stages of the series. Simp ended the series with 111 kills and 106 deaths, and Cellium contributed 122 kills and 108 deaths, but FaZe’s inability to close out important rounds led to their defeat.
The result was a popular one for punters, with top esports betting sites marking Los Angeles Thieves as +100 favourites prior to the major.
