Apeks announced on Thursday that Macedonian Counter-Strike player Damjan “kyxsan” Stoilkovski had extended his contract with the team until the end of 2024.

The Norwegian organization disclosed the news on its official website, revealing that kyxsan was the one that made the decision to extend his contract with the team.

In a statement, Apeks Head of Esports Anders Kjær disclosed that kyxsan opted to extend his contract with them despite receiving multiple offers from other organizations.

“It goes without saying that we are extremely happy that Damjan chose to stay with us, even though he had interest from different clubs. This shows great loyalty to us, and we hope to continue building something great in Apeks with Damjan as our captain,” Kjær said.

The in-game leader joined Apex in December 2022, as a replacement for Richard “shox” Papillon. With him at the helm of things, Apeks had several impressive tournaments runs. They notably reached the semifinals of the BLAST.tv Paris Major after beating teams like Ninjas in Pyjamas and Team Liquid.

kyxsan also helped the team win the Electronic Sports League Challenger League Season 45 Europe and Elisa Invitational Spring 2023 titles.

“I am happy to extend my contract at Apeks, I spent the last 6 months here and I like everything about this team and club. I am excited to continue this journey, and I am looking forward to the upcoming season with many great tournaments,” kyxsan said in a separate statement.

Apeks are also set to lose one of their star players as Justinas “jL” Lekavicius has reportedly reached an agreement to transfer to Natus Vincere.

The entire team are currently on vacation and will return to training on July 10. The organization also announced their plans for a boot camp in Oslo in preparation for the play-in stage of IEM Cologne which will kick off towards the end of July.
