Heroic and G2 secured spots in the Intel Extreme Masters Dallas playoffs on Monday after recording wins over MOUZ and OG, respectively.

Heroic faced MOUZ in Group A on the first day of the Counter-Strike tournament, beating them 16-6 on Mirage and 16-10 on Overpass. Heroic’s Martin “stavn” Lund recorded the highest rating in the two-map series at 1.36.

G2, meanwhile, swept OG to extend their winning streak since the team’s disappointing exit from the BLAST.tv Paris Major in May. The European lineup saluted 16-2 on Mirage and 16-9 on Inferno to book a spot in the upper-bracket final.

The wins mean both teams a chance to begin their playoff run from the event’s semifinals. MOUZ and OG were dropped to the lower bracket, where they will have to get back-to-back wins in order to stay in the tournament.

The first day of IEM Dallas 2023 also saw the first two teams eliminated.

Fnatic, who fielded Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg in place of Freddy “KRIMZ” Johansson, dropped into the lower bracket after losing 9-16 to MOUZ in the opening round. They were then dumped out following a 1-2 defeat to 9z.

Nouns entered the tournament as one of the lowest-ranked squads. They were eliminated after being swept in a two-map series against Brazilian lineup FURIA.

Heroic and G2 are set to face off on Wednesday for a place in the IEM Dallas semifinals, with the loser heading to the quarterfinals as one of the high seeds.
