Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov have officially parted ways with G2 Esports and will join Team Falcons in a high-profile transfer that signals a seismic shift in the Counter-Strike 2 landscape.
G2 CEO Alban “Stilgar” Dechelotte confirmed the move shortly after Falcons defeated G2 in the grand final of PGL Bucharest 2025 — a poignant backdrop for m0NESY’s final outing in G2 colours.
The 18-year-old Russian AWPer will replace PGL Bucharest MVP Abdul “degster” Gasanov in the Falcons lineup and is set to make his debut at IEM Melbourne on April 21.
His first Major appearance in Falcons colours will follow at the BLAST.tv Austin Major, beginning June 6.
Although m0NESY’s contract was due to expire in December 2025, G2 opted to cash in early to avoid losing one of Counter-Strike’s brightest stars on a free transfer.
According to Dechelotte, the decision was made to give the organisation “clarity” heading into the final months of the season and to begin building their future roster.
“Rumors are true. We have decided to accept the trade of our young goat of CS,” Dechelotte said in a public statement.
“It was obvious that he was becoming a bit disconnected from the rest of the team due to his situation. It was very difficult to have meaningful conversations with potential talents without clarity around his future.”
Rumors are true. We have decided to accept the trade of our young goat of CS. I can only ask you to direct your feedback to me and not to the CS management, staff or players as this was a decision on org-level.

G2 had previously resisted approaches from Falcons, most notably during the recent winter off-season.
However, with time running down and negotiations at a standstill, the decision was made to green-light the deal.
M0NESY departs G2 after an impactful stint that yielded six trophies in two years, including titles at IEM Katowice and IEM Cologne.
His time at the organisation saw G2 transform from contenders to champions, ending a long silverware drought.
“This was a chapter that made me stronger,” m0NESY wrote in a farewell message.
“People who will stay in my memory forever. A team that was my home, my second family. Thank you for everything. The story ends here. The story inside — never.”
Sorry, that’s it. Thank you to everyone who supported G2 and me all this time. This was a chapter that made me stronger. People who will stay in my memory forever. A team that was my home, my second family. Thank you for everything.

Dechelotte echoed those sentiments in his own tribute.
“I’m very sad to see Ilya go, but I thank him for the magic moments he gave us,” he said.
“After four years of failing to lift CS trophies under the previous management, this roster and their staff finally landed six trophies in the last two years.”
M0NESY now reunites with former G2 teammate Nikola “NiKo” Kovač at Falcons — forming what many expect to be one of the most dangerous duos in the world.
The Saudi-backed organisation have been aggressive in their pursuit of top-tier talent and finally gets their man after months of speculation.
The addition of m0NESY not only boosts Falcons’ firepower but also signals the team’s intent to dominate the next phase of competitive CS2.
G2 is expected to fill the AWPer role with the loan signing of Olek “hades” Miskiewicz from Monte.
Dechelotte stressed that G2 isn’t afraid of rebuilding and will make the most of their remaining three events this season.
“We’re going to make the best of what’s left this season and work in parallel to prepare for the next with ambition,” he said.
