Team Falcons are out of the BLAST.tv Austin Major after losing 22-20 in OT to MIBR, ending a disappointing CS2 run despite early title hopes.
Team Falcons’ campaign at the BLAST.tv Austin Major have come to a premature end, following a heartbreaking overtime loss to MIBR in their Stage 2 elimination match.
After winning PGL Bucharest CS2 in April and notching runner-up finishes at BLAST Rivals Spring and IEM Melbourne, Falcons entered the Major with high expectations and were tipped as one of the teams capable of going deep — even challenging heavyweights like Team Vitality.
However, the team never managed to hit top gear in Austin.
Falcons opened Stage 2 with back-to-back defeats, going down 13-8 to B8 on Anubis before suffering a 13-9 loss to Lynn Vision Gaming.
The 0-2 start placed immediate pressure on the squad, who needed a win to stay in the tournament. They narrowly survived their first elimination match, edging OG Esports 2-1 to avoid an early 0-3 exit.
Facing MIBR on day three, Falcons started strong with a confident 13-6 win on Anubis, inspired by a dominant performance from m0NESY. But their momentum quickly stalled.
On Nuke, MIBR held firm in the clutch and limited Falcons to just two rounds on the T-side, grinding out a 13-9 victory to push the series to a decider.
The final map on Inferno proved to be a rollercoaster. Falcons fell behind 10-4 at halftime but mounted a spirited comeback to force overtime.
Despite having several chances to close it out, a missed 5v3 post-plant proved costly. MIBR capitalised and walked away with a 22-20 win, knocking Falcons out of the Major.
