Esports World Cup Week 5 brings PUBG Mobile, Rainbow Six Siege, Chess, Counter-Strike 2 and Rocket League action in Paris.

The Esports World Cup 2026 moves into its fifth week on Monday, August 3, with eight competitions filling another packed schedule at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles.
Champions will be crowned in TEKKEN 8, Honor of Kings and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, while the PUBG Mobile World Cup and Rainbow Six Siege begin the early stages of their respective tournaments.
Chess, Counter-Strike 2 and Rocket League will also hold Last Chance Qualifiers, giving players and teams one final route into their main EWC events.
Readers can follow the full festival through our Esports World Cup betting guide, with schedules, tournament details and the latest markets available throughout the week.
TEKKEN 8 championship begins August 4
The TEKKEN 8 Esports World Cup begins on Tuesday, August 4, with 32 leading players entering a tournament split across three phases.
The opening phase divides the field into four groups of eight, with each group using a double-elimination GSL format. Every match will be played as a first-to-three series, and the top four players from each group will progress.
The surviving 16 players will then be separated into two more eight-player groups. The same double-elimination and first-to-three structure will be used, with four players from each group earning places in the playoffs.
The final eight will compete in a single-elimination bracket, where the longer first-to-five format should place a greater emphasis on adaptation and matchup knowledge. One poor opening game will not end a player’s run, but there will be nowhere to hide once the championship bracket begins.
Honor of Kings World Cup reaches the playoffs
The Honor of Kings World Cup 2026 moves into its deciding stage on August 4 after the Play-In and Group Stage reduced the field to eight teams.
Every remaining series will be played as a best-of-seven in a single-elimination bracket. That longer format should reward the teams with the deepest hero pools and strongest ability to adjust between games.
There is no lower bracket or second opportunity for the defeated sides. Three successful series separate the quarter-finalists from the championship, making the Honor of Kings playoffs one of the most important events on the Week 5 schedule.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 makes its EWC debut
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 begins its first Esports World Cup tournament on Wednesday, August 5, with 16 teams competing for a place in the weekend playoffs.
The teams will be divided into two groups of eight and placed into GSL-style double-elimination brackets. All Group Stage matches will be best-of-five, with the top four teams from each group advancing.
The eight-team playoff bracket begins on August 8. Upper-bracket qualifiers will be drawn against teams progressing through the lower side, although teams from the same opening group will be kept apart in the first playoff round.
Most playoff matches will use a best-of-seven format before the final expands to a best-of-nine on August 9. That makes the championship match a serious test of map depth, stamina and the ability to make changes during a long series.
Rainbow Six Siege begins with Play-In battle
The Rainbow Six Siege tournament begins with a 16-team Play-In Stage before the main Group Stage gets underway.
Phase 1 places the Play-In teams into two groups of four, with each group competing through a double-elimination bracket. Opening matches will be best-of-one, while the remaining series will be best-of-three.
The top two teams from each group will advance to Phase 2, where four teams will compete in a short single-elimination bracket. Only two will reach the main tournament.
The Group Stage then expands to 16 teams split across two eight-team double-elimination brackets. Once again, the opening round will be best-of-one before the tournament switches to best-of-three series, with four teams from each group moving into the playoffs.
Seeding will be based on the Six Invitational standings as of July 20, giving the highest-ranked teams a more favourable starting position.
PUBG Mobile World Cup opens with 32 teams
The PUBG Mobile World Cup 2026 Group Stage runs from August 6 to 9, with 32 teams competing across two groups of 16.
Each team will play 12 matches during the opening stage. The top five teams in each group will qualify directly for the Grand Finals, rewarding those able to produce steady results rather than relying on one or two standout games.
Teams finishing from sixth to 13th will continue into the Survival Stage, where they will receive another chance to reach the final lobby. The bottom three teams from each group will be eliminated immediately.
With only 10 direct Grand Final positions available, every placement point and late-game rotation could matter across the four-day opening stage.
Chess Last Chance Qualifier offers five places
The Chess Esports World Cup Last Chance Qualifier begins with open competition across August 4 and 5.
Players will be divided into eight groups and compete through seven-round Swiss tournaments. Games will use a rapid 10-minute time control without an increment, ensuring there is little room for hesitation once the clocks begin running down.
The top two players from each group will move into the August 6 playoffs. That stage will use a double-elimination bracket with best-of-two matches, while qualification series will be extended to best-of-four.
A separate tiebreak will decide fifth place, with the top five players earning entry into the main EWC chess event.
Four CS2 teams can earn late EWC qualification
The Counter-Strike 2 Esports World Cup Last Chance Qualifier runs from August 7 to 9.
The event gives teams that missed out through the earlier qualification pathways one final opportunity to join the main CS2 tournament in Paris.
Four places will be awarded, making the Counter-Strike qualifier more forgiving than the Rocket League event but no less important for teams attempting to rescue their EWC campaigns.
With the main tournament approaching, the successful squads will have little time to celebrate or prepare before facing some of the strongest Counter-Strike teams in the world.
Rocket League qualifier leaves no margin for error
The Rocket League Esports World Cup Last Chance Qualifier will feature 128 teams chasing a single main-event position.
Stage 1 divides the field into four groups of 32, with each group using a double-elimination bracket. All matches will be best-of-five, and the top four teams from each group will advance.
The remaining 16 teams will continue through another double-elimination bracket in Stage 2. Best-of-five series will be used until the Grand Final, which expands to a best-of-seven.
Only the tournament winner will qualify for the main EWC event. That creates a simple but unforgiving equation: 128 teams enter, but 127 will leave Paris without the place they came for.
Week 5 brings another packed EWC schedule
The mix of championship tournaments, opening group stages and final qualifiers gives Week 5 a different feel from the earlier stages of EWC 2026.
TEKKEN 8, Honor of Kings and Black Ops 7 will deliver the week’s champions, while PUBG Mobile and Rainbow Six Siege begin longer journeys toward their own trophies.
For competitors in Chess, Counter-Strike 2 and Rocket League, the stakes are even more immediate. Their main events have not started, but their EWC campaigns could be over before the week ends.
