Japanese Rainbow Six Siege team CAG Osaka reverse-swept favoured Wildcard in the RE:LO:AD 2025 semifinals to secure their first LAN final appearance.

The RE:LO:AD 2025 semifinals kicked off on Saturday, with a clash between Japan’s CAG Osaka and North America’s Wildcard when the two teams battled it out for a spot in their first-ever international grand final.

CAG Osaka fought through the group stage with a 2-2 record and -3 round difference, before taking down FEARX in a closely contested three-map game.

Wildcard managed a 4-1 record and a +15 round differential in the group stage and swept aside Elevate in the quarterfinals.

Having failed to produce as inspiring stats as Wildcard, the Cyclops entered the semifinals as underdogs on the top Rainbow Six Siege betting sites.

Mainly relying on the individual performances of Sho “BlackRay” Hasegaw, CAG Osaka were expected to crumble under the newly-formed Wildcard lineup who have lived up to the tag as one of the tournament’s title contenders.

But in the most unlikely turn of events, CAG Osaka emerged victorious and defeated the North American outfit in a thrilling 2-1 reverse-sweep.

Wildcard took an early lead in the semifinals, with 7-4 on Nighthaven Labs, but could not keep up with CAG Osaka on Chalet, which the Japanese squad won with the same score.

The semifinal came down to Border, where CAG Osaka took an early 4-2 lead before the switch.

Wildcard struck back by winning the first round on defence by eliminating all CAG Osaka players; however, they could not complete the comeback and dropped the next three, ending the map 3-7.

By beating Wildcard, CAG Osaka wrote history as the first Asian team to reach an international Rainbow Six Siege tournament grand final.

It marked the Japanese team’s first victory against a North American team in three years, when they bested XSET at the Six Charlotte Major 2022.

CAG Osaka will chase their first international trophy on Sunday, May 18, when they face off against FURIA.
