Raleigh, North Carolina, will host the 2022 Apex Legends Global Series Championship, and the timeline for the event has been revealed.
Shortly after the conclusion of Apex Legends’ Stockholm LAN playoffs, the organizers revealed the date and time of the Global series.
Meanwhile, Australian-based Reignite won the Spring 2 playoffs in Stockholm, walking away with $250,000 from the $1 million prize pool and 500 playoff points.
Forty teams are scheduled to participate in the 2022 ALGS with a prize fund of $2.5 million. However, only thirty teams have qualified for the offline event, many of which came from the playoffs stage in several regions.
The remaining ten slots will be filled after the completion of the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) 2. Upon completion of the LCQs, the top two teams from NA, SA, APAC North, EMEA, and APAC South will join the 30 already qualified teams.
Apex Legends Global Series Championship Format
The Group Stage will commence on July 7, and the format of the entire event will be similar to what was obtained in the Spring 2 playoffs. It will be a four-day event, starting with the Group Stage on July 7 as earlier stated.
Four groups of ten will be created, with each team playing 18 games in a six-game series on Day 1. At the end of this stage, while all teams will advance to the Bracket Stage, they will be distributed based on their rankings.
The top ten teams will start the bracket stage in Round 2, while the last ten teams will commence in the losers bracket Round 1. For those in the middle, they will feature in the bracket Round 1.
In the Finals, there is no match limit. Whoever wins a match after getting “Match Point Eligible” wins the contest. To be “Match Point Eligible,” you have to reach 50 total points.
Teams have a lot to prove in this competition, starting with Reignite. Their performance will be for the entire APAC South region, as many believe the zone to be feeble. They will have to dominate and show why they are the champions of the area.
NA will be looking to show their strength in the competition, with teams like NRG and OpTic Gaming getting the opportunity to establish themselves in the international LAN layout. For TSM, it will be an attempt to return to former glory.
There is so much to play for, including the $500,000 prize for the winner of the competition.
