BBL Esports will face EDward Gaming for the second time this tournament, having beaten the Chinese team 2-1 in the first round of the group stage.

NRG kicked off the tournament with a huge victory against Paper Rex, who they bested 2-1. However, they could not make it past Team Vitality in the Group B Winners Match, losing 14-16 on Ascent, 13-8 on Lotus, and 10-13 on Breeze.

The game could have easily ended in NRG’s favour, but they stumbled on Ascent, losing the map despite holding an 11-7 lead.

Karmine Corp looked lost in their first game of the Esports World Cup, when they were swept by Team Vitality. But they showed far more in the elimination match, where they reverse-swept Paper Rex 2-1.

While that result looks impressive on paper, Paper Rex have not been playing well at this event, so it is fair to take KC’s success with a grain of salt.

NRG are favourites on the top-rated VALORANT bookmakers to defeat Karmine Corp, but the number feels a touch short. NRG are the more accomplished team, yet they have a tendency to slip and remain widely inconsistent.

This is still NRG’s game to lose, but a closer, more competitive series is likely on the cards.
