PGS Phase 1 overview

PGS 1 was set to use the Squads FPP format on PC, with 32 teams split into two groups of 16 during a group stage, followed by an elimination bracket and a 16-team grand final. Qualification paths included regional qualifiers from the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Asia-Pacific circuits.

With the event never taking place, no results were recorded. The prize pool and competitive format were later adapted for the PUBG Continental Series, which served as the replacement circuit throughout 2020.

Betting angle

While PGS 1 never produced results, the teams that qualified — including many rosters that went on to dominate later PGS phases — provided early indicators of regional strength. The cancellation marked a significant gap in the competitive calendar that reshaped how bettors evaluated form heading into 2023 when the PGS circuit resumed.
