LoL Worlds 2025

The League of Legends World Championship 2025 served up another surprising result on Saturday, November 1, when KT
Rolster eliminated the pre-tournament favorites Gen.G Esports from the event with a 3-1 victory.

For the second year in a row, Gen.G Esports were unable to progress further than the LoL Worlds semifinal. Only this time, the early elimination was that much more painful, as Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon and his crew fell at the hands of their regional rivals, KT Rolster.

The intense semifinal bout was expected to be a one-sided affair, with the best LoL betting sites pricing Gen.G as $1.11
favorites to take one step closer to the elusive Summoner’s Cup.

However, the underdogs did not care about the pre-game rankings and produced one of the biggest upsets of the tournament.

The series kicked off with a shock victory from KT Rolster, who came out ahead in an extended 46-minute battle. While the map seemed like it was going in Gen.G’s favor, superb base defending from KT and a won Elder Drake skirmish were enough for Korea’s fourth seed to take the lead.

Gen.G struck back on map two, needing 39 minutes to tie the series with a convincing display. This, however, would be the last point the pre-tournament favorites would secure.

Map three saw the teams exchanging blows, but most of the action came in the mid lane, where Gwak “Bdd” Bo-seong
dominated on Azir and played a key role in his team’s success.

The Korean mid laner ended the map with a 7/1/4 score and was, alongside ADC Seo “deokdam” Dae-gil, the driving force
behind KT’s success. The fourth map of the day played out similarly, but even more in favor of KT.

While Bdd was ruling the mid lane on Cassiopea against Chovy’s Anivia, all other lanes favored KT as well, and Gen.G appeared lost with no response to their rivals’ advances.

The final map of the series was the most dominant display of the day. KT dominated wire-to-wire and closed out the game in just over 35 minutes with over 10k gold lead and 16-2 in kills.

By beating Gen.G, KT Rolster continue to build on their most successful performance at LoL Worlds in the team’s history, and are now one best-of-three series away from hoisting the Summoner’s Cup.

Going from barely scraping by in LoL Champions Korea (LCK) to retaining their position as the sole undefeated team of LoL
Worlds 2025, Bdd and his men continue to defy expectations.

KT Rolster now have over a week to prepare for the grand finals on November 9, when they will face the winner of the T1 vs Top Esports semifinal clash on Sunday.

The upcoming series is expected to end in a dominant T1 victory, with the Korean juggernauts priced as $1.25 favorites on
most betting platforms.
