The final round of League of Legends Pro League Split 3 Knights Rivals will feature a clash between Group Ascend’s JD Gaming and Group Nirvana’s LGD Gaming on Tuesday, September 2.
In these cross-group fixtures, we can throw the teams’ respective records out of the window. That is because JDG (5-9) had to face much tougher opponents compared to LGD (6-4).
JD Gaming have not been great in the summer split, having seemingly struggled to adjust to a new top laner and support. While they have had their moments, JDG’s 3-6 record in the final four weeks of play inspires little confidence.
LGD Gaming are arguably better than their final placement in Group Nirvana would suggest. They also won their last three games, against ThunderTalk Gaming, EDward Gaming, and Ultra Prime.
But you have to ask yourself: how much weight does beating some of the weakest teams in the LPL hold?
The big issue with LGD Gaming this split has been their questionable macro and poor decision-making. JD Gaming have been struggling to close out games, but only against good teams.
Despite underperforming, JDG looked very solid when faced with Group Ascend’s bottom feeders, Team WE and FunPlus Phoenix, who are both stronger than LGD Gaming.
There is little to suggest LGD can win this; the gap between the two divisions is too large to ignore. At +110 to sweep on the top LoL betting sites, JD Gaming are a very inviting bet.
