Mid-Season Invitational 2025 (MSI)

The 2025 League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational Play-In Stage is complete, and the Bracket Stage is officially locked in. Eight teams now remain in the hunt for international glory, following an electric opening weekend in which Europe’s G2 Esports and China’s Bilibili Gaming punched their tickets to the main event.

MSI 2025 Play-In Stage recap

Bilibili Gaming came to the play-ins as the League of Legends Pro League (LPL) second seed and wasted no time asserting dominance. After comfortably sweeping GAM Esports in their opener, the Chinese heavyweights clashed with G2 Esports in a hotly contested series. Bilibili dominated their League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) opponents 3-0, booking their spot in the upper bracket. But G2 weren’t done yet.

Dropping to the lower bracket, GAM Esports defeated FURIA in a back-and-forth 3-2 series before facing G2 to play off for the final spot. The final series of the Play-In Stage appeared to be going G2’s way; however, GAM bounced back to win maps three and four before G2 closed out the series on the final map.

GAM showed glimpses of promise throughout the stage, including a win over FURIA, but ultimately fell short when it mattered most. FURIA, meanwhile, couldn’t keep pace with the more experienced rosters, finishing winless in Vancouver.
