How to bet on A-League esports

Football Federation Australia (FFA) and the A-Leagues launched their very own esports league in February 2018 to connect fans of EA Sports FIFA (now EA FC) video game series with top tier A-League clubs.

Similar to other football leagues around the world, FFA hopes to have Australia’s best competitive EAFC players on PlayStation and Xbox represent their favourite clubs in the virtual football pitch and bring in a new generation of fans in the process.

About e-League

The FFA launched their new premier FIFA esports league in February 2018, with the aim to embrace the large number of existing and potential fans who love the annual FIFA video game series and get them involved with the A-League and W-League through officially organised esports competitions.

The FFA researched the esports industry for over a year prior to the announcement, and consulted with multiple leagues around the world such as the French Ligue 1 and English Premier League, the former of which has run e-Ligue 1 tournaments for two years, before deciding on the formation of their very own e-League.

The best FIFA 18 players from Australia who played across PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms were eligible to join the FFA e-League and represent the A-League club of their choice, along with the chance to be crowned the best professional FIFA player in the country.

FFA e-League schedule and structure

The 2024 E-League season brought a fresh new format, running across five weeks of regular season action followed by two thrilling playoff weekends. Kicking off in March, this year’s competition features two divisions and 24 of Oceania’s best EA SPORTS FC™ players.

  • E-League (Top Division):
Twelve elite players will represent A-League clubs in weekly matches streamed live on Twitch, thanks to broadcast partner Lowkii. The top 8 from the regular season will progress to the E-League Playoffs.
  • E-League Challengers:
This new second-tier division sees 12 additional players compete. The top 4 Challengers will enter the Gauntlet – a knockout playoff where they battle the bottom 4 E-League players for two remaining playoff spots.
  • Playoffs Format:
A total of 10 players will contest the 2024 E-League Playoffs. The top 2 from the regular season are seeded directly into the upper semi-finals. A double-elimination bracket (best-of-one) will decide the final 8 competitors.
  • Grand Finals:
The final 8 players compete for a $10,000 AUD prize pool and a spot in the EA SPORTS FC™ Pro World Championship. The E-League champion will represent Oceania on the global stage.
