The 2022 LPL All-Star Weekend was postponed just days before the event was supposed to begin due to the death of a former Chinese President.
The LPL All-Star Weekend was supposed to go ahead on December 3, but a last-minute decision by the organisers to reschedule the event filtered through late last week.
This year’s All-Star Weekend was supposed to be the return of the event where fans get to see their favourite players take part in the show-match, after the 2021 edition was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The official Twitter of the LoL Pro League announced on December 1 that the 2022 LPL All-Star Weekend will be postponed.
We are sorry to inform that the 2022 LPL All-Star Weekend will be postponed. The subsequent date will be announced later.
Thank you for all your understanding and support.

The reason for the postponement has not been confirmed by the LPL, but the many people believe it was due to former Chinese president Jiang Zemin passing away from leukemia and multiple organ failure.
When All-Star voting closed, the player with the most first-place votes was Weibo Gaming’s top laner, Kang “TheShy” Seung-lok, tallying a total of 1,652,234 votes, followed by Bilibili Gaming’s bot laner, Jian “Uzi” Zi-Hao, who received 1,494,821 votes.
TheShy and Uzi were made team captains after receiving the most votes; however, both declined their invites, as TheShy is still recovering from COVID-19 and Uzi is expecting a child in the coming days.
A number of other players have withdrawn due to personal reasons, so the LPL has released a new list of players for the All-Star event.
