Another big week of esports kicks off on January 27, 2025, with Counter-Strike 2 taking centre stage in Katowice, Poland.

The first ‘Big Event’ on the 2025 Counter-Strike 2 esports calendar will take place in Poland, Katowice, when IEM Katowice kicks off on Thursday, January 29.

Meanwhile, the final tournament of the 2024 Apex Legends Global Series will also begin on Thursday, January 29, with the ALGS Championship set to take place in Sapporo, Japan.

IEM Katowice 2025

The Intel Extreme Masters series will kick off with IEM Katowice this Thursday, with 24 CS2 teams set to do battle.

The event will begin with the Play-In Stage, which is slated for January 29-31 and will feature 16 squads.

Following the conclusion of the Play-In Stage, the eight teams that received direct invites to the main event of the tournament will be joined by the eight qualifying outfits.

After claiming the first S-Tier event of the year, BLAST Bounty Spring, the defending champions, Team Spirit, are marked as +250 favourites with the best esports betting sites to claim back-to-back IEM Katowice titles.

Sitting on the second, third and fourth lines of betting, Team Vitality (+400), Natus Vincere (+450) and FaZe Clan (+500) are also given strong chances.

ALGS Championship 2024

The 2024 Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) will conclude with the Championship in Japan, when the top 40 Apex Legends squads compete in the four-day event from January 29 to February 2.

After claiming the 2023 ALGS Championship, TSM will return to defend their crown, while the likes of ALGS Split 1 Playoffs champions Crazy Raccoon and ALGS Split 2 winners Spacestation Gaming attempt to complete their season with the Championship.

The Daiwa House PREMIST DOME in Sapporo is expected to be filled with a full crowd for each of the four days.
