Dragon Ranger Gaming finished VCT 2025 China Stage 1 Group Alpha in fourth place, with a 2-3 record, one spot below Nova Esports, who won three matches. However, DRG beat Nova 2-0 in the opening week of Stage 1.

Despite managing just two victories, Dragon Ranger Gaming showed good things, as all of their losses came down to the final map and could’ve easily ended the other way. Moreover, DRG will continue with Ilya “vo0kashu” Ushakov, who was one of the top-performing players (1.17) in VCT China Stage 1.

Nova Esports managed a higher placement only due to their strong start to Stage 1, but towards the end, they looked terrible. Even at the post-stage event, VALORANT China Evolution Series Act 2 x ACL in May, Nova did not show much.

JD Gaming ended VCT 2025 Stage 1 with just one win (1-4) and have since made a couple of roster changes, including the signing of Yang “Link7” Bowan, Zhang “kklin” Ziling, and Freddie “riyabtw” Liu. None of those arrivals make JD Gaming significantly better, so another mediocre stage is to be expected.

Trace Esports failed to qualify for VALORANT Masters Toronto 2025, but they had a solid run through the first stage with just three losses against Wolves Esports, XLG Esports, and Bilibili Gaming. Against weaker opponents, Trace showed no signs of struggle.

Trace Esports defeated JD Gaming 2-0 in Stage 1, and considering the lack of noticeable signings, JD Gaming are unlikely to fare any better in the rematch.
