Team Liquid have announced the departure of top laner Jeong “Impact” Eon-young, who leaves the North American League of Legends team after two years.

The announcement comes after a disappointing season for Liquid, who failed to reach the LTA 2025 Championship and earn a shot at qualifying for LoL Worlds.

Impact is the first player to leave ahead of the 2026 season. It is his second departure from Team Liquid, who he previously represented from 2018–2020.

The Korean’s second stint with Liquid started in November 2023. During his two-year stay, he won five LoL Championship Series (LCS) titles and LTA 2025 Cross-Conference.

The Cross-Conference win marks a clear high point for Liquid this year, as they placed fifth in the First Stand Tournament, fourth in LTA North Split 2, and fifth-sixth in Split 3.

In the goodbye video, Impact spoke about his decision, admitting his performances this year have left something to be desired.

He also stated that he intends to take a break for a couple of months and decide what to do next, as he has lost his passion for the game.

Even though Impact has not announced retirement, seeing him hang up his mouse would not be the most shocking outcome.

He has been involved in the professional LoL scene for 13 years, having made his first appearance in 2012 with Xenics Storm as a support player.

He transitioned to the top lane by the end of the year and has since played for several high-profile teams — including SK Telecom T1, with whom he won the 2013 LoL World Championship.

Following his memorable beginnings in Korea, Impact moved overseas to represent NRG Esports, Cloud9, Team Liquid, Evil Geniuses, and FlyQuest.

Over the 10 years spent in North America, Impact has won nine domestic titles, most with Liquid.

Besides the LCS 2021 and 2022 Lock-In tournaments, Team Liquid have not won a single trophy without Impact, whose departure leaves a huge gap to fill before the next season.
