Tundra Esports news

Tundra Esports have etched their name deeper into Dota 2 history, becoming the first team to claim back-to-back BLAST Slam titles after a commanding 3-1 victory over Team Falcons in the grand final of BLAST Slam III.

Held from May 6 to 11, the event delivered on every front, as 10 elite squads battled it out for a share of the US$1,000,000 prize pool.

In the end, Tundra Esports walked away with US$400,000 and another trophy, while Team Falcons took home US$200,000 following their impressive runner-up finish.

Even though Tundra entered BLAST Slam III as the defending champion, they were marked at +650 on the fifth line of betting with the best esports betting sites, while Team Falcons were slightly shorter at +450.

Champions Rise After Early Setback

Tundra’s title defence was far from smooth sailing.

They dropped their group stage opener to Xtreme Gaming but quickly found their rhythm, reeling off wins over Team Tidebound, BetBoom Team, and Team Liquid to secure a 3-1 group finish and a spot in the playoffs.

Team Falcons mirrored this path in Group A, with wins over Gaimin Gladiators, Team Spirit, and PARIVISION before losing to Aurora Gaming to also finish a 3-1 record.

The semifinals set the tone for the grand final, with both finalists flexing their strength — Falcons swept Team Spirit 2-0, while Tundra did the same to Gaimin Gladiators.

Grand Final: Crystallis and bzm Deliver the Goods

The best-of-five series began with a statement win from Tundra.

Midlaner Bozhidar “bzm” Bogdanov dominated game one with a flawless Beastmaster performance, finishing 11/0/8 in a swift 27-minute stomp.

Remco “Crystallis” Arets — the team’s newest addition as of March — followed it up with a clutch Razor performance in game two, helping Tundra hold off a resilient Falcons side to go up 2-0.

Heading into game three, Falcons weren’t ready to roll over.

Game three saw them punish Tundra’s supports, with Martin “Saksa” Sazdov (1/16 on Tusk) and Matthew “Whitemon” Filemon (1/10 on Ancient Apparition) unable to find any footing.

Team Falcons clawed one back with a clean 38-minute win, reducing the series deficit to 2-1.

Game four, the most thrilling of the set, saw Falcons lead for much of the match.

However, bzm’s Invoker turned the tide with a masterclass in execution as he repeatedly landed crucial Sun Strikes and Cataclysm combos, and he propelled Tundra back into contention.

Despite Falcons’ early lead, Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak’s Dragon Knight underperformed (3/9, 11k damage in 55 minutes), and Tundra sealed the series and the championship.

Another Title for the Tundra Dynasty

This victory marks Tundra’s first major title with Crystallis on board and their second grand final win in the BLAST Slam circuit.

The team’s synergy, resilience, and superior execution in high-pressure moments have reinforced their reputation as one of the most dominant forces on the Dota 2 circuit.

Team Falcons, though disappointed to miss the title, can take pride in another strong tournament run.

Their second-place finish at BLAST Slam III follows their previous runner-up performance at FISSURE Playground #1, suggesting that a breakthrough is around the corner.

With DreamLeague Season 26 next on the calendar and Team Spirit giving up their slot, Tundra now has a golden opportunity to claim another title and further solidify their standing as the team to beat in 2025.
