The king of unfinished castles, Darko “DauT” Dautovic, will clash with the no.1 Argentinian AoE II player, Nicolás “Nicov” Bruno, in the first round of Group A. It will mark DauT’s fifth head-to-head meeting with Nicov (4-1) and his first since Red Bull Wololo V in September when the Serb won 2-0.
The esports bookmakers have DauT priced as a favourite, but we find him a bit overpriced at -156.25. While Nicov is talented and on a six-game winning streak, he has consistently underdelivered against the elite AoE II players.
As efficient as Nicov can be in defeating lower-rated opponents, he does not come off as a proper contender for big tournament titles. DauT had some slip-ups against weaker opponents last month, but it’s hard not to bet on him at the offered betting odds.

Ville “Villese” Jämsä will clash with Roberto “TaToH” Jiménez for the second time of the year, and the first time since September, when TaToH won 2-1. With that win, the Spanish AoE II pro improved his all-time head-to-head record to 3-1; however, he is only 8-7 up in maps won.
So even though TaToH is a far more recognisable name in the AoE II esports world, he has struggled against Villese before, namely across their last three meetings (2-1, 0-3, 3-2).
We don’t see a problem with the esports bookmakers pricing TaToH as the favourite since he seems to be one of the strongest players in the group – besides Darko “DauT” Dautovic, Kai “Liereyy” Kallinger, and Gan “Yo” Yangfan – but +277 on Villese is way too high. Value is with the underdog.
