The League of Legends World Championship 2025 comes to a close on Sunday, November 9, with the Telecom Wars grand final between T1 and KT Rolster.

For the fourth year in a row, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and his crew have made it to the big stage, so there is no surprise there. On the other side, this marks KT Rolster’s first ever LoL Worlds grand final appearance, and this year is the first in which KT have made it further than the quarterfinals.

This raises one concern with KT Rolster, which is a lack of experience competing in the big game. None of the five players on KT have ever made it this far, and for some, namely ADC Lee “PerfecT” Seung-min and support Jeong “Peter” Yoon-su, this is the first international playoffs.

The pressure could play a big factor; however, it is fair to argue that the weight is heavier on T1, who are billed as the favorites by the top-rated LoL betting sites and are expected to dominate.

KT Rolster’s run can be viewed as a fluke, but they have been playing well. LoL Champions Korea (LCK) fourth seed looked
particularly good in their victory against the tournament favorites, Gen.G

KT Rolster won the first map after Gen.G allowed them to get all the strong picks. It was a sound strategy in Fearless Draft. KT won the first map, Gen.G struck back on the second, but from there it went downhill for the Korean champions.

Gwak “Bdd” Bo-sung and co. won the draft on the third map and punished Gen. G’s overly-aggressive approach on the fourth. A few too many forced fights led to lost tempo and an easy win condition for KT Rolster, who closed it out 3-1.
It was an excellent showing from KT Rolster, and also a terrible display from Gen.G.

T1 have looked very unconvincing for most of LoL Worlds, and have had a few close calls even in the Swiss Stage. Even their victory against Anyone’s Legend was too close to comfort.

T1’s best game came in the semifinals against Top Esports, which is promising. However, Top Esports have not been great, so even that victory does not hold much weight. On the other hand, T1 performed admirably well on the day, indicating they’ve found traction in time to hoist their third consecutive Summoner’s Cup.

Besides lacking experience, KT Rolster have also won just one of seven head-to-head fixtures this year, so it is hard to make a solid case for them, despite the promising form.
