Legacy, Team Liquid storm into CS Asia Championships playoffs

Only four playoff spots remain in Shanghai after Legacy and Team Liquid advanced to the upper-bracket final in Group A.

Legacy and Team Liquid are the first two teams to secure CS Asia Championships 2025 playoff spots, after reaching the Group A upper-bracket final.

With those spots locked in, the remaining 12 Counter-Strike teams will battle it out on Wednesday for the last four slots.

Legacy, who entered the CS Asia Championships as one of the outsiders, are now guaranteed a top-six finish and at least US$20,000 after beating Virtus.pro and 3DMAX on Tuesday.

The Brazilians started their quest for the CAC trophy with a dominant display against Virtus.pro, winning 13-2 on Mirage.

After the phenomenal performance in the first round, Bruno “latto” Rebelatto and his crew collected another big scalp when they defeated 3DMAX 2-1.

Legacy took an early lead, winning 13-6 on Dust2. While they could not keep up on Nuke (8-13), the underdogs closed it out with a comfortable 13-6 victory on Inferno.

The win over 3DMAX is a big milestone for Legacy, who earned their first LAN playoff appearance since their miracle run at the BLAST.tv Austin Major.

Meanwhile, Team Liquid’s road to the upper-bracket final was fairly smooth. They kicked off their campaign with a 13-9 victory over GamerLegion, then added a convincing 2-0 sweep of MIBR.

The game started with a dominant display from Liquid on Mirage, which they won 13-5.

Nuke was much tighter in the first half, ending with a 7-5 lead for Liquid. However, MIBR could not crack the code on defense and lost with just five maps in their pockets.

The attention now turns to the remaining lower-bracket semifinals in Group A and a pair of Group B upper-bracket semifinals on Wednesday, October 15.

Team Liquid and Legacy will face off for a direct bye into the semifinals on Thursday. The best Counter-Strike 2 betting sites have Liquid priced as -175.44 favorites, while Legacy are +125 underdogs.
