The 2025 League of Legends World Championship kicks off with a play-in clash between defending champions T1 and China’s Invictus Gaming in Beijing on Tuesday, October 14.
The top LoL betting sites have not priced this match close, giving T1 an 83.8% implied probability of walking away victorious and proceeding into the Swiss Stage.
T1 enter LoL Worlds 2025 having failed to win a single trophy this year. This will be their first LoL World Championship since 2020 without star top laner Choi “Zeus” Woo-je, who joined Hanwha Life Esports after winning back-to-back Summoner’s Cups with T1.
Invictus Gaming return to the LoL World Championship for the first time since 2019. After years of middling results, the 2018 world champions have assembled a roster of legends, including top laner Kang “TheShy” Seung-lok, mid laner Song “Rookie” Eui-jin, and ADC Chen “GALA” Wei, who has had a phenomenal season.
After a shaky fifth-sixth finish in LPL Split 3, Invictus Gaming finished as runners-up in the LPL Regional Finals. While IG have found some success this season and taken down some of the LPL’s top teams, they’ve been very volatile.
T1 have also come through a period of instability; however, they looked much more composed in the LCK playoffs, indicating strong form ahead of their quest to defend the world championship throne.
While the Korean squad have looked better recently, Invictus Gaming are no slouches. Although volatile, IG are capable of elite-level performances, and they’ve had plenty of time to prepare for this matchup.
T1 are likely to win, but Invictus can keep it close.
