What’s on in esports for week beginning Oct 14, 2024

We take a look at the week ahead in esports and the highlight events for October 14-20, with League of Legends maintaining centre stage.

Another big week of esports kicks off on October 14, 2024, with League of Legends retaining the spotlight in the esports world.

Following the completion of the Swiss Stage at the League of Legends World Championship, the event will move into the knockout stage, where the final eight teams will do battle.

Meanwhile, BetBoom Dacha Belgrade will kick off on October 19, with 12 of the best 1Dota 2 esports guide3 teams congregating in Belgrade, Serbia, for a seven-day tournament.

League of Legends World Championship

LoL Worlds 2024 will enter the fourth week of competition as the knockout stage kicks off on October 17, with each of the four quarter-finals set to take place from Thursday to Sunday.

Gen.G, Hanwha Life Esports, Bilibili Gaming, T1, LNG Esports, Top Esports, Weibo Gaming and FlyQuest are the eight teams that will compete in a single-elimination bracket, with four of those teams set to advance to the semi-finals.

Esports betting sites still have Gen.G marked as the overwhelming -151.52 favourite to claim the World Championship, followed by Hanwha Life Esports (+500) and Bilibili Gaming (+600).

Dota 2: BetBoom Dacha Belgrade

The second Dota 2 BetBoom Dacha tournament of 2024 will begin on October 19 and run through October 26, with 12 of the top teams expected to compete in the US$1 million event.

Team Liquid, Gaimin Gladiators and Team Falcons headline the squads that will be in attendance; expect a high level of competition throughout the tournament.
