Southeast Asian newcomers Team Aureus made waves with a couple of impressive wins on Day 2 of the BLAST Slam IV round-robin stage.

Wednesday’s action at BLAST Slam IV was full of surprises, including some impressive performances from Team Aureus in their first high-profile Dota 2 event.
Esports betting sites had the Southeast Asian upstarts as heavy outsiders for their clashes with Aurora Gaming, Yakult Brothers and Team Spirit, which was no surprise after their swift defeat to MOUZ in their opening match on Tuesday.
First they knocked off Aurora, restricting the European outfit to a measly five kills while racking up a 23.3k gold advantage.
The stats were tighter in their matchup with Yakult Brothers, but the underdogs saluted once again thanks to strong performances from John “Natsumi–” Vargas and Erin Jasper “Yopaj” Ferrer.
They couldn’t quite match motors with Russian powerhouse Team Spirit in their final match of the day, but Aureus — who only formed in September — will be delighted to sit 3-2 heading into the third wave of round-robin games.
Elsewhere on Wednesday, BLAST Slam IV title favorites Team Falcons had their perfect record scuppered when they fell to HEROIC in an epic contest that lasted nearly an hour.
Falcons still lead the way in the overall standings, tied at 4-1 with Tundra Esports, while Team Spirit sit 3-1 with a game in hand.
Spirit will face both Falcons and Tundra in an action-packed schedule on Thursday, while Aureus will look to deliver more carnage when they take on Team Liquid (1-3) and HEROIC (2-3).
