Riot’s 2026 Season 1 brings role quests for top, mid, ADC, a seventh item slot, faster minion spawns, jungle tweaks, and ranked updates, hitting PBE Dec 3.

League of Legends undergoes significant changes at the start of each season, and 2026 will be no exception, introducing heaps of adjustments, including a new feature – Role Quests.
The League of Legends World Championship is in the rearview mirror, which means the time has come for Riot Games to start implementing changes for the next LoL season.
Besides the adjustments to the Summoner’s Rift, new items, and ranked play, Riot have also prepared significant changes for individual roles, introducing a seventh item slot and role quests for top laners, mid laners, and ADCs.
Role quests are a new feature, set to be added to the game with Season 1, aimed to give players a more meaningful experience tailored to the role they play.
As revealed, players will complete roles by fighting enemies, killing minions, assisting with objectives, and taking down towers.
Further specifics have not been announced, but the quests are said to be similar to the already available support and jungle quests.
Bottom lane quests for ADCs and supports will reward teamwork and synergy by giving them specific rewards that benefit their respective roles.
By completing quests, supports will gain discounts on control wards, more gold generation, and a new control ward slot.
Meanwhile, ADCs will be awarded with flat gold, gold generation, and a seventh item slow, thus giving them even more late-game power.
Jungle-specific quests in Season 1 will award players with an upgraded Smite, which deals more damage to neutral monsters.
Moreover, they will receive extra XP and gold for killing jungle camps on top of the added movement speed in the jungle.
By completing quests, mid laners will be rewarded with empowered recall and a new Tier-3 boots upgrade, allowing them to roam more freely and have a better impact on other lanes.
Top laners, while often forgotten, will benefit the most from the new role quest feature.
These quests are designed to make the top lane feel more satisfying to play, while also being more punishing. The main reward is the upgraded teleport, along with more XP gain from all sources and an increased level cap of 20.
The announced changes, while exciting, still lack some details, with more information expected to become available in the coming weeks.
However, they are all designed to follow the new idea of creating LoL more fast-paced, which Riot will also accomplish with faster minion spawns, new items, jungle changes, and other adjustments.
The changes will be added to PBE on December 3 and are set to go live on January 7, 2026.
