Respawn just gave a first glimpse of the next playable character in Apex Legends. Apex Legends Season 13’s Newcastle previously had a spoiler alert in March after a massive Reddit leak that relayed the details of the anticipated character.
The major leak, which was posted by an unidentified user, included a number of gameplay videos, large text files, and skills for each character that was leaked. Caliber, Catalyst, Conduit, Jester, Phantom, Scryer, Uplink, Vantage, and Newcastle are some of the leaked Legends.
Respawn posted four pictures of diary entries in a recent tweet. The journal had six entries, all written within a month. Adopting the tone of a child, the entries relay the story of a character that lives with her mother in a secluded rural setting. Every page of the diary entries displayed hand-drawn pictures of monsters and guns, and on one of the pages, several names that represented the week’s kills.
Respawn’s caption for the images reads, “You’ve got to keep yourself busy when you’re one of the only two people on the planet.” This indicates that the character mentioned earlier lives with her mother alone in the location.
While neither Respawn nor EA has expressly revealed the new character’s identity, the story appears to point at the newly leaked sniper-focused character Recon Legend, Vantage.
The leaked details of the character revealed that her kit is focused on taking on long-range combat and buffs for the team. One of the abilities is a Sniper Kit (passive) that gives her tactical information for every long-range scope. Echo Launch (Tactical) is another and enables the character to launch herself towards Echo, her winged companion.
The last is Mark to Kill (Ultimate), which gives Vantage a custom rifle that increases the damage for the team by first scanning enemies. The damage buff doubles with successful shots and the team earn a bonus of 15 percent on marked targets. If the leaked information is correct, the Recon character will be in the same group as Seer, Valkyrie, Bloodhound, and the rest. This information was obtained from the leaked files and is yet to be confirmed by an official source.
When the leak occurred on Reddit, a user used a text post to record the information provided in the files in case they were deleted, and they were. The user recently reported that while Vantage’s model was ready, the character was yet to be polished, so she would most likely be released in Apex Legends Season 14. Season 13 of Apex Legends is fast approaching its end, so more character information will likely be released soon. At the start of a new season, new legends are typically given teasers.
Apex Legends usually gets a new season after three months. If it follows the same trend, Apex Legends season 14 will be released on August 8, approximately three months after season 13 was released in May. Respawn is yet to give any information on the start or last days of season 14; however, delays are not common. The developer usually gives notice in advance, like when the update for season 3 was delayed for a few weeks. New updates on the season launch will be released when ready on all platforms and regions simultaneously.
