Romanian esports tournament organizers PGL announced on Wednesday, November 19, that the October 2026 Counter-Strike 2 event has been cancelled due to scheduling overlap with another tournament.
This is the second CS2 tournament of 2026 that PGL have had to cancel, following the August event – named PGL Summer 2026 – due to its overlap with the Esports World Cup.

While PGL have not named the event which overlapped with their planned tournament, it is ESL Pro League Season 24,
expected to run from September 21 to October 11. Meanwhile, PGL’s planned Fall event was scheduled for October 1-11.
However, despite the termination, PGL will host a LAN tournament later that month. Named PGL Belgrade, the Serbian
tournament is scheduled for October 22 – November 2, with a US$625,000 prize pool.
PGL Belgrade was not explicitly mentioned in the press release, which only stated that another Tier 1 CS event will run between those dates, with more information to be announced soon.
“The CS2 event initially scheduled for early October 2026 will no longer take place due to a full overlap with another organizer’s tournament, despite PGL having announced its calendar as early as March 2024,” read the announcement.
“PGL will continue to prioritize competitive integrity, global scheduling balance, and logistical feasibility for teams and players.”
PGL’s original plans for the next season were announced at the start of 2024. Initially, PGL partnered with FiRe Esports to run events in Buenos Aires, Barcelona, and São Paulo, in addition to those in Belgrade, Astana, and Bucharest.
However, the deal between the two tournament organizers fell through, leading to a significant decrease in PGL-run events in 2026. With the cancellation of the October tournament, only four PGL-organized events are confirmed for next year.
