ONIC Philippines secured the final spot in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid-Season Cup (MSC) 2025 semifinals with a thrilling 3-1 comeback over Team Spirit on Thursday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, at the Esports World Cup.
The win sets up a high-stakes showdown with reigning champions Selangor Red Giants OG Esports, while Team Liquid PH will face ONIC Esports Indonesia in the other semifinal.
The quarterfinal clash saw Team Spirit strike first, dominating Game 1 behind Alexander “Oneshot” Sharkov’s flawless Yi Sun Shin performance (8-0-3 KDA) and textbook Khufra counters against ONIC PH’s Fanny.
But ONIC PH, led by Duane “Kelra” Pillas, roared back into the series with Wanwan and Granger heroics, including a pivotal triple kill and a match-sealing Maniac in Game 4.
The 20-year-old gold laner’s clutch performances flipped the series momentum and cemented his reputation as one of the tournament’s premier carries.
Earlier in the day, Selangor Red Giants OG Esports overcame RRQ Hoshi in a tense five-game series to advance, marking the Malaysian squad’s first 3M+ peak viewers match at the Esports World Cup.
SRG.OG’s disciplined teamfighting, anchored by Filipino gold laner John “Innocent” Banal and roamer Hazziq “Stormie” Rizwan, powered them into back-to-back MSC semifinals.
Friday’s semifinals promise fireworks, with Southeast Asia’s four remaining giants colliding for a US$3 million prize pool and a shot at MSC glory.
The opening match pits Team Liquid PH as -222.22 favorites with the top esports betting sites against ONIC Esports ID a +150 outsider, a rematch of their group stage thriller.
The second semifinal sees SRG.OG (+135) as slight underdogs against ONIC PH (-200), setting up a potential all-Filipino grand final should both ONIC squads advance.
The MSC 2025 Knockout Stage concludes August 2, with the grand final following the third-place decider.
