Magisk and device leave Astralis

Astralis confirm the exits of “device” and “Magisk” after a trophyless 2025, hinting at international signings as the Danes rebuild for the 2026 season.

On Sunday, December 28, Astralis announced the departure of Nicolai “device” Reedtz and Emil “Magisk” Reif, who will not continue with the Danish Counter-Strike 2 team in 2026.

The announcement comes after a fairly disappointing season for the former Major champions, as Astralis ended 2025 with no big event trophies to their name.

The lack of success, culminating in a 17th-19th place finish at the StarLadder Budapest Major, led to numerous roster changes throughout the season, including the signing of Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen in June and the arrival of Magisk in September.

However, even with fresh faces joining the roster, Astralis have failed to make much noise in the upper echelons of competitive CS2.

The news comes shortly after rumors linked device with 100 Thieves, where he would reunite with his former teammate, Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander, who was appointed as head coach.

“Leaving Astralis once again has not been an easy decision,” said device.

“For some time now, I have been hungry to try something new, and I am very much looking forward to starting the next chapter. I am leaving Astralis on good terms, just like last time, and I wish the guys all the best.”

There are no reports of Magisk’s future after his second period in Astralis.

Meanwhile, the Danish team have revealed that they are exploring international options to fill in the two gaps.

“We are not limiting ourselves to a single market when recruiting new players,” read the statement.

“We are in a phase where we will continue to build throughout 2026, and our primary focus will be on quality and the overall direction of new additions.”

A pivot to an international roster would mark the first time in Astralis’ history that the team would not field an all-Danish lineup, excluding a couple of instances in 2017, when Dennis “dennis” Edman and Ruben “RUBINO” Villarroel served as stand-ins.

Astralis’ CS2 Roster

• Victor “Staehr” Staehr
• Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen
• Jakob “jabbi” Nygaard
• Casper “ruggah” Due – coach
