Overpass returns to CS2 active map pool

Overpass will officially return to the Counter-Strike 2 competitive map pool after major tournament organisers ESL and BLAST confirmed the change across their upcoming events following the most recent update.

ESL was the first to act, announcing that Overpass will immediately replace Anubis in the map rotation for all ESL Pro Tour and Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) events.

This means IEM Cologne 2025 will be the first S-tier tournament to feature Overpass under ESL’s banner. However, qualifiers for ESL Pro League Season 22, which are already in progress, will continue to be played on the previous patch — meaning Anubis remains in use for the time being.

BLAST has also confirmed the reintroduction of Overpass to their map pool, with the change taking effect from August 1. The BLAST Rising qualifiers will be the first event under their banner to adopt the updated pool. July’s open qualifiers; however, will still operate using Anubis.

The timing gives most teams around 10 days — and just seven for play-in squads — to adapt their strategies ahead of Cologne. For those attending the FISSURE Playground #1 event in Serbia, prep time will be even tighter.

ESEA has committed to adopting the change from July 28, while PGL and StarLadder have yet to comment on their plans.

With Overpass now officially back in the Active Duty pool for CS2, tournament organisers are rapidly aligning with the new meta, signalling the end of Anubis’ brief run at the top level of play.
