Stage 2 of the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 ends with viewership records, upsets & FaZe’s survival. Falcons eliminated in MIBR decider.
Stage 2 of the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 have come to a thrilling close, trimming the field to just 16 teams and delivering a mix of upsets, breakout performances, and record-setting viewership.
With the playoffs on the horizon, the Austin Major have already outshone last year’s Shanghai event in nearly every major CS2 broadcast metric—and the biggest names haven’t even played yet.
The biggest shock of the round came with the early exit of Team Falcons. Despite entering the tournament as one of the favorites, NiKo’s side failed to live up to the billing, managing just a single win over OG before being eliminated by MIBR in a high-stakes decider.
That final match drew over one million concurrent viewers—the highest of any Stage 2 game—and marked the first time in three years that a non-playoff match reached that milestone.
Also falling short in Stage 2 were B8 and HEROIC, both of whom impressed in Stage 1 but couldn’t keep pace as the pressure mounted.
On the flip side, Legacy put together a clinical 3-0 run to sail into Stage 3, while FaZe Clan survived by the skin of their teeth, needing five rounds to finally book their place with a win over MIBR.
With s1mple stepping in as a high-profile stand-in, FaZe continue to be one of the tournament’s top draws in terms of viewership.
Brazilian teams once again dominated the broadcast charts, thanks in large part to community caster Gaules, whose streams remain among the most-watched of the entire event.
MIBR led Stage 2 in total watch hours, while FaZe finished on top in average viewership per match.
Across the board, Stage 2 numbers nearly doubled those from Stage 1—including peak viewers, average viewers, and total watch time.
English and Polish-language broadcasts saw the biggest surges, while Mongolian viewership dropped slightly with The MongolZ yet to appear.
Stage 3, which begins June 12, will feature the long-awaited debut of tournament heavyweights such as Team Vitality, NAVI, and Team Spirit.
With just eight playoff spots up for grabs and global interest reaching new heights, the next chapter of the BLAST.tv Austin Major promises to be the most explosive yet.
