BLAST have confirmed that their Rivals Spring 2025 event, originally scheduled to take place in Monterrey, Mexico, will now be held at the company’s studios in Copenhagen, Denmark, due to what it described as “unforeseen logistical challenges.”
The Monterrey event was set to be a landmark occasion as the first tier-one Counter-Strike tournament on Mexican soil since the ECS Season 4 Finals in 2017 and the first ever on the new CS2 title.
However, those hopes have been dashed just weeks before the competition was due to begin.
BLAST offered limited details in the official statement but expressed their intent to return to the region in the future.
Despite the change in venue, the tournament format remains intact.
BLAST Rivals Spring 2025 will run from April 30 to May 4 in a closed studio environment, with no live audience in attendance.
The event will feature eight teams, four of which will receive direct invites based on Valve’s Regional Standings (VRS).
The remaining four spots will be filled by wildcard entrants from Europe, North America, South America, and Asia.
Rivals Spring 2025 will be the first edition of BLAST’s new Rivals series and features a US$350,000 prize pool.
The event will begin with a double-elimination group stage, progressing into a six-team playoff bracket that concludes with a best-of-five grand final.
The sudden relocation also marks a blow to North America’s CS calendar, with Monterrey initially expected to complement IEM Dallas and the BLAST.tv Austin Major as one of the year’s few premier LANs in the region.
