Another big week of esports kicks off on August 5, 2024, with VALORANT taking the spotlight in Seoul, South Korea.
VALORANT Champions is the final event of the 2024 VALORANT Champions Tour, with the world’s best teams taking their place in the US$2.25 million tournament.
Meanwhile, one of the most prestigious Counter-Strike events, IEM Cologne, will kick off on August 7, with the play-in stage taking place over the first three days before the main event starts on August 10.

VALORANT Champions
Throughout the first week of play, each of the 16 teams has played their opening group stage match and will compete in either the winner’s or loser’s bracket early in the second week of the group stage.
Pre-tournament favourites Gen.G, Fnatic and Leviatan kicked off Champions with dominant wins and they will seek to advance to the playoffs with one more win this week.
The first four teams will book their spot in the playoffs on August 6 and 7, and the first four will be eliminated over the following two days.

CS2 IEM Cologne
Intel Extreme Masters Cologne will kick off on August 7 and run through August 18 at the “Cathedral of Counter-Strike” (LAXNESS Arena) in Cologne, Germany.
The top 16 teams in the ESL world rankings will compete at IEM Cologne, with the top eight squads earning automatic entry into the main event, and they will await the eight qualifiers from the play-in stage.
Esports betting sites have marked Team Spirit as the +250 favourite to take out IEM Cologne 2024. Spirit are closely followed by Natus Vincere (+300), G2 Esports (+350), and Team Vitality (+450).
