Weibo Gaming defeated Virtus.pro 3-1 to win the Teamfight Tactics title at the Esports World Cup 2025. Yin “Saopimi” Shengjie earned the Finals MVP.

Weibo Gaming (WBG) stormed to victory in the Teamfight Tactics (TFT) tournament at the Esports World Cup 2025 in Riyadh, securing a dominant 3-1 win over Virtus.pro (VP) in the grand final and claiming the lion’s share of the US$500,000 prize pool. The Chinese powerhouse walked away with US$150,000 for their triumph, while star player Yin “Saopimi” Shengjie was named Finals MVP, adding an extra US$10,000 to his haul.

The event, held from August 11 to 15, featured 16 teams split into four groups in a best-of-three, double-elimination format. WBG swept through the group stage undefeated, notching wins against T1 and Team Vitality. In the playoffs, they dispatched EVOS Esports 2-0 before edging AEGIS 2-1 in the semifinals.
Virtus.pro entered the final as the tournament’s surprise package. Despite a relatively unknown roster, the Eastern European side upset esports betting sites’ favorites along the way, recording 2-0 wins over Wolves Esports and T1. Their fearless approach earned them the “giant slayer” tag, and their run to the final was one of the biggest storylines of the tournament.
However, Weibo Gaming’s experience and flexibility proved decisive. After dominating the opening game, WBG stumbled in game two as Virtus.pro leveled the series. Game three swung back in WBG’s favor thanks to Saopimi’s timely Caretaker’s Ally augment, which enabled a Gangplank-powered composition that carried him past VP’s Milo in the late stages. WBG then sealed the title in game four, showcasing their composure and tactical edge.
Saopimi finished the tournament with a 71% win rate, a 2.75 average placement, and 25 points overall, cementing his MVP status. In his victory speech, he credited his teammates: “This MVP prize doesn’t belong to me alone, but to every single one of WBG.”
The triumph also boosts Weibo Gaming’s standing in the Club Championship, pushing them to eighth place with 1,950 points. They became the 17th unique organization to secure a title at EWC 2025 and will look to climb higher in the rankings as they prepare for Street Fighter 6 next week.
For Virtus.pro, the runner-up finish keeps them in fourth with 3,150 points, marking their third silver medal of the year in Riyadh.
