Team Vitality will face The MongolZ in the BLAST.tv Austin Major grand final after dominant semi-final wins. Who will claim the 2025 Major crown?
Team Vitality and The MongolZ will clash in the grand final of the BLAST.tv Austin Major after commanding semi-final victories over MOUZ and paiN, respectively, on Saturday.
Vitality’s 2-1 triumph over MOUZ extended their dominant 2025 record against their European Counter-Strike rivals to 7-0, continuing a demoralising streak for MOUZ, as much as it is impressive for Dan “apEX” Madesclaire’s squad. MOUZ showed fight, even crushing Vitality 13-4 on Inferno to push the series to a decider, but the final chapter followed a familiar script.
Mirage, MOUZ’s pick, quickly turned disastrous after a decent start. Shahar “flameZ” Shushan was instrumental in Vitality’s recovery, posting 15 kills in the first half alone. MOUZ clawed back some rounds, but with flameZ landing smoke kills and closing clutches, Vitality surged ahead to draw first blood with a 13-8 win.
Inferno offered a flicker of hope for MOUZ. Returning to a map Vitality hadn’t touched since a shocking Stage 3 loss to Legacy, the underdogs ran riot behind Ádám “torzsi” Torzsás and Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin, while Vitality looked lost. But the final map, Train, was once again a Vitality clinic. Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut and Robin “ropz” Kool combined for 29 frags in a brutal first half, and there was no escape for MOUZ, who bowed out with another loss in a one-sided rivalry, with their campaign ending on the wrong end of a 13-6 scoreline.
“We’ve beaten them seven times now, but it won’t mean anything if we don’t finish the job tomorrow,” apEX said post-match, as Vitality chase their seventh straight title and second Major crown.
On the other side of the bracket, The MongolZ breezed past paiN Gaming 2-0 to reach their first-ever Big Event LAN final. The Mongolian side overcame early resistance on Mirage with a dominant 13-round streak that left paiN reeling. Ayush “mzinho” Batbold’s late crucial kills — taking out two paiN members after time — crushed the Brazilians’ economy and helped seal a 13-5 win.
Anubis followed a similar pattern. The Brazilians showed signs of life early, but a pivotal 1v2 clutch halted their momentum, and The MongolZ closed out another 13-5 result in emphatic fashion.
With both teams surging, Sunday’s grand final will be a clash of styles — Vitality’s experience and structure versus The MongolZ’s fearless aggression — with Major glory on the line.
The grand final set to take place on Sunday, Team Vitality head into the finale as raging -454.55 favourites with top esports betting sites, while The MongolZ are rated as +300 outsiders.
