In the announcement, Psycho shared his excitement about joining Virtus.pro and stated that he will remain a part of the team for the upcoming Esports World Cup 2025 and throughout the Capcom Pro Tour (CPT) 2025 season.
Psycho is one of the most experienced players in the American FGC scene, having competed since 2014, making his debut in a Street Fighter IV tournament, Final Round 17.
With the signing of the DreamHack Atlanta 2018 champion, Virtus.pro officially return to the FGC esports world, which they entered in June 2024 with Luo “Vxbao” Yanxin.
The 27-year-old, however, remained contracted for just two months before Virtus.pro shut down the division in August of the same year.
“Last year, we signed a Street Fighter 6 player to gain first-hand experience in a new area of esports. Now that we understand the scene better, we can set clearer goals and outline a plan to achieve them, said Virtus.pro CEO Nikolai Petrossian.
“Our primary focus is a strong performance at the Esports World Cup, but we also plan to compete in Capcom Pro Tour ranking events and continue building the fighting games division at Virtus.pro for the long term.”
Virtus.pro are one of many esports teams who have decided to join the Street Fighter scene ahead of the Esports World Cup 2025, where they’ll hope to pocket the largest slice of the record-breaking $70,000,000 prize pool, $38 million of which will be spread among 25 tournaments.
The EWC 2025 Street Fighter tournament will feature 48 players and take place on August 20-23, 2025.
