Virtus.pro bowed out of FISSURE Playground #1 at the first hurdle on Wednesday, marking a rough start for the new-look Counter-Strike 2 roster.

The Russian team headed to Belgrade as one of the title contenders, priced at +500 on Counter-Strike 2 betting sites.

However, Virtus.pro failed to live up to expectations in their debut event with Ilya “Perfecto” Zalutskiy and were sent packing early, finishing bottom of Group C after 0-2 losses against TYLOO and MIBR.

To make matters worse, TYLOO had to face Virtus.pro on Tuesday with a weakened roster as coach Zhong “zhokiNg” Weijie stood in for Ji “Jee” Dongkai due to visa issues.

Yet even with that handicap, the Chinese squad managed to win 13-9 on Inferno and 16-14 on Anubis.

After a humiliating loss in the first round of group play, Virtus.pro started strong against MIBR on Wednesday.

They took a 9-3 lead on Train as Counter-Terrorists, setting themselves up for a comfortable map victory.

However, Rafael “saffee” Costa had other plans and led MIBR to a 13-10 comeback victory with a 2.53 performance rating.

On Mirage, the teams were tied 6-6 at halftime before MIBR shifted into a higher gear and won seven of the remaining nine rounds to close out the map at 13-8.

Virtus.pro concluded their FISSURE Playground #1 campaign with a 0.98 average rating as a unit.

The new arrival, Perfecto, posted the team’s second-worst marks (0.87). His former teammate at Cloud9, Denis “electroNic” Sharipov, was the team’s worst-performing player (0.79).

The failed title attempt at FISSURE Playground #1 puts Virtus.pro on a 17-month title drought.

Their next chance to break the curse will come at Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2025, which is set to start on July 23.

Top esports betting sites have Virtus.pro priced as +7500 outsiders to hoist the trophy in Germany, where they will play their first match against TYLOO in the play-in stage.
