The MongolZ have named a short-term replacement for Azbayar “Senzu” Munkhbold, who was benched in a shock move on Wednesday.

The MongolZ revealed on Thursday that Unudelger “controlez” Baasanjargal will serve as a stand-in for the upcoming Intel Extreme Masters Chengdu 2025 in China.
The announcement comes one day after the shock benching of Azbayar “Senzu” Munkhbold, who was removed from the active Counter-Strike 2 roster after two years.
Controlez moves to The MongolZ from Chinggis Warriors, whom he joined in October 2024. During his 12-month stint with the Mongolian team, the 28-year-old averaged a 1.06 performance rating and notably reached the BLAST.tv Austin Major earlier this year.
While an unexpected decision, The MongolZ explained that they have enough time to fully assess their academy players and find a suitable long-term replacement for Senzu.
“The decision was made to field an experienced player, taking into account the input of the main team’s players,” read the announcement.
This is not the first time controlez will wear a MongolZ jersey, as he enjoyed a short stay there at the start of his professional career in 2017.
The new addition will step into the arena on Monday, when The MongolZ face off against HEROIC in the first round of IEM Chengdu.
Despite fielding a stand-in, the Esports World Cup champions are viewed as favorites to start their campaign in China with a victory, priced at -277.78 on the best Counter-Strike 2 betting sites.
The outright markets, on the other hand, have The MongolZ at +2500 to win the title, well back from the likes of Team Vitality (+225), Team Spirit (+400), and Team Falcons (+400).
