Team Falcons have successfully defended their Esports World Cup (EWC) Club Championship crown, winning the 2025 edition in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The organization edged out elite rivals Team Liquid and Team Vitality in a tight race that wasn’t settled until the final week.
Founded in 2017 by FIFA eWorld Cup champion Mossaad “Msdossary” Al-Dossary, Team Falcons have rapidly become a global powerhouse. In 2025, the Saudi-backed organization took home US$7,000,000 after topping the Club Championship standings with 4,900 points, fueled by a participation-heavy strategy that saw them compete in 22 of the 25 EWC tournaments—far more than any other team.
This multi-title approach proved critical under the EWC’s cumulative points system, which awards 1,000 points for a win, 750 for second place, and 500 for third. Falcons captured just one outright title in Overwatch 2 but posted podium finishes in Dota 2 (second) and Chess (second), plus several top-eight results across major games like Rocket League and PUBG.

Yet, it wasn’t a runaway. Team Liquid and Team Vitality, with far fewer tournament entries, pushed Falcons until the end. Liquid finished with 4,200 points across 13 tournaments, while Vitality tallied 4,050 points from just 11. In fact, Vitality averaged 368 points per event compared to Falcons’ 222, underscoring that efficiency can still challenge the widespread approach.
Falcons’ rise hasn’t been without controversy. The organization is backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund—the same entity behind the EWC Foundation—drawing criticism over alleged “sportswashing” and the Kingdom’s human rights record. Despite this, the financial muscle allowed Falcons to sign top talent across multiple esports, creating an unprecedented competitive footprint.
Looking ahead, Falcons plan to expand even further, with management offices in Europe and over 80 staff members already on the payroll. Their model—prioritizing breadth and consistency over specialization—could reshape competitive esports, forcing rivals to choose between matching participation or excelling in select titles at extraordinary efficiency.
For now, Team Falcons stand tall as back-to-back champions, redefining what it takes to dominate the world’s most ambitious esports competition.
