The Game Awards is taking a step to broaden its audience revealing that its Dec. 11 ceremony will be streamed live, on Prime Video for the time. The decision to expand onto a mainstream stage alongside its long‑standing Twitch home marks an effort to close the divide, between hardcore gaming circles and the wider world of entertainment.

This year’s 2025 ceremony, staged at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater. Streamed from 5 p.m. To 8 p.m. PT will roll out the blend of exclusive world premieres fresh game reveals and awards honoring the year’s top titles—while shining a particular spotlight on several marquee esports accolades.

Geoff Keighley – the brainchild, behind The Game Awards and its chief executive – painted the partnership, as an organic progression. “We’re thrilled to bring our celebration of video games to more audiences with the addition of Prime Video ” Keighley said in the official announcement.

He zeroed in on the platform’s flourishing record, with video‑game adaptations pointing to the lauded “Fallout” series—its April 2024 launch pulled in a viewership. “Prime Video is a home for our show ” Keighley remarked, highlighting the ever‑tightening synergy, between gaming IP and streaming entertainment.

While the Prime Video arrangement is aimed at casting a net The Game Awards is doubling down on its core supporters by overhauling its Twitch broadcast. This marks the 2K (1440p) streaming of the ceremony. The popular co‑streaming tool returns, enabling creators to relay the event to their audiences.

Than 11,000 creators re‑broadcast the show year a figure poised to swell with the upgraded viewing experience. To crank up engagement viewers who manage to stay tuned for a half‑hour, on Twitch will qualify for Twitch Drops offering in‑game goodies and a limited‑edition chat badge.

The specific loot is slated to be announced as the event approaches. The expansion is gearing up to pull a crowd into the show’s much‑anticipated esports slots—Best Esports Game, Best Esports Team and Best Esports Athlete.

At the 2023 ceremony the League of Legends world dominated the night: the game itself snagged Best Esports Game, star mid‑laner Lee ‘Faker’ Sang‑hyeok earned Best Esports Athlete and his crew, T1 walked away with Best Esports Team after their victory, at the 2023 World Championship.

The chatter, around the 2024 nominees is already thick. Faker and T1 still loom as powerhouses. After riding on their crushing Worlds 2023 run T1 ran into a domestic clash this season ultimately bowing out to Gen.G in the LCK Spring Finals. That loss turns the showdown into a tighter sprint with heavyweights, from VALORANT Counter‑Strike 2 and Dota 2 also eyeing the prize.

The 2023 nominee roster rolled out a couple of e‑sports heavyweights—Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut (Counter‑Strike) and Zheng “ZmjjKk” Yongkang (VALORANT). The drive to attract an audience comes as The Game Awards keeps riding a wave of growth. The 2023 broadcast notched a record—118 million livestreams, up, from 103 million, in 2022.

Adding Prime Video’s subscriber base could catapult those numbers to heights further cementing the event as the “Oscars of gaming.” Amazon is also taking advantage of the event to boost sales breathing life into its Game Awards shop with discounts, on games and hardware that run through Dec. 31.
