Movistar KOI and Fnatic will face off on Monday, September 8, in the upper bracket semifinals of the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) 2025 Summer, marking their first clash of the summer split.
Both teams finished the group stage with a 3-1 record. KOI lost to Karmine Corp, while Fnatic had to admit defeat to their arch-rivals, G2 Esports, in Group 2.
In their last match of the split, Movistar KOI edged out a 2-0 sweep against Team Vitality. Both maps were very close, which is not necessarily a testament to KOI’s weakness but rather Vitality’s ability to perform well on a good day.
Meanwhile, Fnatic’s last match took place three weeks ago, when they were defeated by G2 Esports. The first map was one-way traffic, while the second was very close until G2 Esports took the Baron and closed it out.
Both squads have hit one bump en route to the playoffs, but by the numbers, Fnatic are the better team. This explains why they are priced as favorites on all LoL betting sites.
The Black & Orange are a much more aggressive early-game team. They boast an 88.9% first blood rate with a +845 gold difference at 15 minutes. In contrast, Movistar KOI have averaged 212 GD@15.
In the mid-late game, KOI tend to perform better, with solid neutral objective control. But even looking at those figures, they are hardly in a much better spot than Fnatic.
Movistar KOI were a competitive team last split until they shifted into a higher gear in the playoffs and ran over everyone. It could happen again, as KOI have a very high ceiling, but barring any overperformances, they should not be expected to take down Fnatic.
