Korea’s premier League of Legends competition enters the penultimate round of the summer split on Saturday, starting with a clash between Gen.G and KT Rolster. The teams have nothing left to fight for, and even if they win, their playoffs seeding won’t change.
Gen.G already won the regular season with a 16-1 record, two wins ahead of T1 (14-3), while KT Rolster are fifth with a 10-7 record, four wins clear of Kwangdong Freecs (6-11) in seventh and tied with DWG KIA. Knowing that this match is more of a formality than anything else, we can throw everything we know about the teams out of the window.
That doesn’t necessarily mean that KT Rolster will defeat Gen.G, but there’s a chance this bout will be much closer and far more open than we’re used to. Gen.G might not play at 100%, so we’re leaning toward KT Rolster with a map handicap – but even if this was an important match, a bet on KT Rolster to steal a map from the Korean LoL juggernauts would make a lot of sense.
KT Rolster have been playing well across the last few weeks with wins against DWG KIA (2-0), Fredit BRION (2-1), and DRX (2-0), and they even won a map against the in-form Liiv SANDBOX (1-2) and T1 (1-2). If they can keep at it, KT Rolster should cause issues to Gen.G.

T1 have done enough to finish the season in second place, but they’ve left a lot to be desired with their showings in the latter half of the split. T1 gave away a map against KT Rolster (2-1), lost against Gen.G (0-2), barely made it past Nongshim RedForce (2-1), and got stomped by Liiv SANDBOX (0-2) on Wednesday.
Luckily, their next opponents, DWG KIA, are just as shaky. They dropped a map against Hanwha Life Esports (2-1) and lost against KT Rolster (0-2) at the end of July. Since then, DWG KIA also underperformed against Liiv SANDBOX (0-2) and Gen.G (1-2) but bounced back with a 2-0 sweep against Kwangdong Freecs on Thursday.
Even though we’re talking about two elite teams, T1 and DWG KIA are not playing at 100%, which leads us to believe that this match can swing either way. The value is with DWG KIA at plus money.
