Monte have made a change to their Counter-Strike 2 roster by adding Alexander “kakafu” Szymanczyk as their head coach, replacing Ivan “AiyvaN” Semenets.
Monte have announced Alexander “kakafu” Szymanczyk as the new coach of their Counter-Strike 2 division, replacing Ivan “AiyvaN” Semenets, who leaves the team after a long stretch of underwhelming results.
Monte have made numerous changes to their CS2 esports team since the turn of the year, more recently with the arrivals of Oscar “AZUWU” Bell and former MOUZ rifler Aurimas “Bymas” Pipiras.
However, after several player changes – which led to no notable improvement in tournament placements – Monte decided to swap out their coaching personnel.
Kakafu now stands as a new Monte coach, replacing AiyvaN, who joined the Ukrainian organization in November 2023 as the head coach of the now-disbanded Monte Gen lineup.
Since getting promoted to the main lineup in January, AiyvaN has led Monte through 14 tournaments but failed to win a single title.
The 29-year-old’s most notable accomplishment was reaching the playoffs at YaLLa Compass Spring 2025.
His replacement, kakafu, joins Monte with a few more notable tournament placements from his last coaching stint and with loads of coaching experience.
The ex-pro player started his coaching career in 2016 with PENTA Sports and has since moved around European Counter-Strike teams, including BIG, Unicorns of Love, and OG.
During his most recent spell with BIG, kakafu helped the German squad qualify for the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 and claimed a silver medal from YaLLa Compass Winter 2025.
Monte’s announcement of kakafu’s arrival came after their 2-1 victory against Betera in a third-round lower bracket match of CCT Season 3 European Series #4.
The German coach will make his official debut for Monte on Monday, in the fourth round of the US$50,000 tournament.
