ESB’s free StarCraft II betting tips for Friday, December 23, focus on a pair of ITaX Super Series #91 bouts. Here are our selections for Park “Dark” Ryung-woo vs Kim “Ryung” Dong-won and Byun “ByuN” Hyun-woo and Kim “herO” Joon-ho, with SCII betting odds courtesy of the best esports bookmakers for gamblers in BetOnline.

As the latest StarCraft II betting odds suggest, this should be a very one-sided affair. Esports betting sites are giving Park “Dark” Ryung-woo a 90.9% implied probability of winning this bout, which might sound like a lot, but there’s a good reason for it.

Dark is undeniably one of the best StarCraft II players in the world and is in excellent form. In November, he won AfreecaTV Champions Cup and has since added two silver medals from PiG Sty Festival 2.0 and 2022 AfreecaTV GSL Super Tournament 2.

Moreover, Dark has lost just eight series since the start of November (51-8), which translates to an 86.44% win rate. Ryung, while an excellent player, hasn’t achieved anything even remotely as impressive and is on a 0-1-4 run ahead of this bout. We can also touch on the fact that Ryung holds a 26.09% win rate against Zerg players, while Dark is 61-27 against Terran (68.54%).

This should be a straightforward victory for Dark, who we expect to walk away unharmed.

BYUN vs HERO SCII BETTING & MATCH DETAILS

Best Odds: ByuN -120.48 at BetOnline | her0 -120.48 at BetOnline

Unlike the tournament’s first match, the clash between Byun “ByuN” Hyun-woo and Kim “herO” Joon-ho should be much tighter. At least, that’s what the latest SCII betting odds would suggest.

HerO and ByuN have met 75 times since 2017, yet over half (38) of those head-to-head series happened in 2022. Looking at the head-to-head figures, ByuN holds a six-game lead (22-16) which translates to a 57.89% win rate, but he is just 70-68 (50.72%) in maps won, so it’s not fair to say that he is significantly better than his compatriot.

But while you can make a case for either of the two, we like ByuN better, mainly due to his recent TvP performances. ByuN holds a 74.50% win rate against Protoss players, whereas herO is 40-30 (57.14%) in PvT, which is his worst matchup throughout his career (1167-714, 62.04%).

ByuN also came out ahead in his last three meetings with herO (3-1, 2-1, 3-0), which is just one more reason why we prefer the one-year younger Korean SCII pro here.
