Finnish esports tournament organiser Elisa has announced that it will host the Nordic Championship 2025, a Counter-Strike 2 tournament for teams from Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark.
The tournament will take place from May 20-24 in Vaasa, Finland, featuring eight Counter-Strike teams and a US$100,000 prize pool.
In the announcement, Elisa shared some details about the Nordic Championship, which will be divided into two stages: the Studio Phase and the Arena Phase.

The Studio Phase will feature all eight teams competing in a double-elimination bracket for invites for the Arena Phase, which will be held live at Vaasan Sähkö Arena in front of live audience.
The list of participating teams will include two squads each from Finland, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway, with the spots to be decided through local regional qualifiers.
The qualifiers will be held in collaboration with Dust2.dk in Denmark, MistGames in Norway, and Fragbite in Sweden, while Elisa Open Season 8 and 9 will serve as qualifiers for Finnish teams.
“The Elisa Nordic Championship 2025 represents a significant step up in Nordic esports”, said Mika Lepistö, Director of New Business Development & Partnerships at Elisa.
“We want to offer teams in our region the opportunity to compete at the highest level and gain important ranking points on their way to international level.”
Tuomas Saikkonen, CEO of Elisa Esports’ partner, VILPE, said the event would be significant for the region’s economy, giving local businesses a new way to strengthen their brand and market their products and services.
The Nordic Championship will run alongside Intel Extreme Masters Dallas 2025, which is scheduled for May 19-25.
