Team Spirit continued their remarkable 2025 campaign with a commanding 3–0 victory over The MongolZ in the BLAST Bounty Fall grand final, held at the BLAST Studios in Malta on Sunday. The win marks Spirit’s second consecutive BLAST Bounty title and further cements their status as the world’s top Counter-Strike 2 squad.

Spirit’s championship run

Fresh off their triumph at IEM Cologne, Spirit arrived in Malta with confidence and wasted little time asserting their dominance. After taking down Virtus.pro 2–0 in the quarterfinals and sweeping MOUZ 2–0 in the semifinals, they carried momentum into the grand final. Against The MongolZ, Spirit claimed tight victories on Nuke (13–11) and Mirage (16–13) before closing out Ancient (13–5) in decisive fashion.

It was a bittersweet moment for Myroslav “zont1x” Plakhotia, who is set to depart after the CS2 Esports World Cup. His teammates allowed him the honor of lifting the trophy first, a fitting farewell for his tenure. Meanwhile, 17-year-old Ivan “zweih” Gogin impressed in his first tier-one final, delivering clutch rounds that showcased Spirit’s enviable depth.

Donk reaches MVP milestone

The spotlight once again fell on Danil “donk” Kryshkovets, who collected his 10th career MVP award. The 18-year-old phenom tallied a +17 K/D in the grand final with 106.7 ADR. Throughout the tournament, donk posted 0.85 kills per round and 95 ADR over 13 maps. His performances now put him alongside legends Kenny “kennyS” Schrub and Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund in all-time MVP honors.

Changing of the Guard

Spirit’s victory also carried broader implications, as they officially overtook Team Vitality as the number one team in the Valve global rankings. Vitality, who dominated early 2025 with seven trophies in eight events, were eliminated by The MongolZ in the semifinals, signaling a dramatic power shift at the top of CS2.

The MongolZ may have fallen short, but their semifinal upset over Vitality and second tier-one grand final appearance this year further solidify them as Asia’s top team. For Spirit; however, the future looks even brighter. With US$360,000 in prize money, two BLAST Bounty titles, and the no.1 ranking secured, they now turn their attention to the Esports World Cup. As donk enters his prime, Spirit’s dominance could be only just beginning.
