OpTic Texas have revealed another surprising roster change shortly after the start of Call of Duty League (CDL) 2025 Stage 4, benching Cesar “Skyz” Bueno to make room for Mason “Mercules” Ramsey.

It’s been just a few months since OpTic added Skyz to their Call of Duty roster to replace Kenneth “Kenny” Williams; however, the 25-year-old’s stint with the team ended prematurely.

Skyz has struggled to find traction with a sub-0.90 K/D ratio during the last online stage (0.89) and CDL 2025 Major 3 (0.82), where OpTic placed seventh-eighth.

As a result, the defending CDL champions decided to cut ties with the ex-Los Angeles Guerrillas M8 player in favour of a younger and less experienced Mercules.

Mercules had no experience in the highest tier of competitive Call of Duty until April, when he joined Toronto Ultra for CDL 2025 Major 3 as a stand-in for Ben “Beans” McMellon.

The rookie proved his worth and helped Ultra win a bronze medal, averaging the tournament’s eighth-highest K/D ratio of 1.08 while securing 474 kills (third-highest).

This change comes at a tough time for OpTic Texas, who dropped to eighth place in the season standings with 155 points.

They sit 40 above the CDL Championship cutoff line and 255 behind the league’s leaders, Atlanta FaZe (410).

Mercules will debut for the Green Wall on Friday, May 9, when OpTic face off against Boston Breach in the first round of Week 2 CDL 2025 Major 4 Qualifiers.

According to the latest esports odds from the top CoD betting sites, OpTic Texas are -175.44 favourites to win the game.

Skyz is the fourth player to be removed from OpTic Texas’ active lineup this year, following Amer “Pred” Zulbeari, Kenny, and Cuyler “Huke” Garland; however, Huke was re-added to the roster after two months.
