Broky returns to FaZe Clan CS2 lineup ahead of IEM Cologne

After disappointing results in Dallas and Austin, FaZe have pulled the pin on their Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev experiment.

FaZe Clan have announced the return of Helvijs “broky” Saukants to their Counter-Strike 2 lineup.

The 24-year-old was pushed out of the active roster at the start of May to make room for Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev, who helped FaZe during Intel Extreme Masters Dallas and the BLAST.tv Austin Major as a stand-in.

The shock roster change at the time followed a long dry spell for the 2022 Antwerp Major winners, who opted for a drastic move in hopes of re-establishing themselves as one of the world’s elite teams.

Broky’s benching and the temporary arrival of s1mple, however, only netted middling results, as they finished 9th-12th in Dallas and fifth-sixth in Austin.

The failed experiment now sees broky reassume his old role as the primary AWPer — a position he had held since joining FaZe in September 2019.

The Latvian’s return also puts an end to speculation that s1mple might sign a permanent contract with FaZe upon the expiration of his loan.

Having managed to achieve just one podium finish this season with their current roster — third at PGL Bucharest 2025 — FaZe Clan could look to make more changes during the summer break.

However, the team have yet to reveal whether more roster moves are in the works.

With IEM Cologne just around the corner, FaZe are expected to stick with the players they have, with more significant changes potentially happening before the start of the CS2 Esports World Cup event on August 20.

IEM Cologne outright markets have yet to open on the top esports betting sites; however, with Team Vitality, MOUZ, Team Spirit, Team Falcons, Natus Vincere, and The MongolZ in attendance, FaZe are unlikely to be considered one of the main title contenders.
