Day three of the BLAST.tv Austin Major brought high drama and heartbreak as Stage 1 nears the conclusion. Complexity, Imperial Esports, and Chinggis Warriors have all been eliminated, while OG, BetBoom Team, and Nemiga Gaming secured their spots in Stage 2.
Complexity’s home Major ended in disappointment after a 0-2 defeat to TYLOO. Missing AWPer Håkon “hallzerk” Fjærli due to visa issues, Complexity brought in Paytyn “junior” Johnson but struggled throughout the event.
Despite bright individual moments from Michael “Grim” Wince and a strong start on Train, Complexity’s defence faltered, and TYLOO took full control on both maps to send the North American Counter-Strike 2 side packing.
Imperial Esports were also shown the exit door after a back-and-forth battle with Legacy. The Brazilians started Stage 1 poorly but briefly revived their campaign with a win over Metizport. However, Legacy, who only made the event after BESTIA’s visa issues, proved too strong in the decider. Eduardo “dumau” Wolkmer was the standout with a 2.15 rating in the final map to knock out Imperial.
Chinggis Warriors fell in a nail-biting series against Chinese squad Lynn Vision Gaming. After trading maps, the deciding game on Ancient swung wildly, with both teams trading mistakes and clutch plays. Junjie “EmiliaQAQ” Tang delivered the knockout blow in overtime, sending the Mongolian side home.
On the other side of the bracket, three teams advanced to Stage 2. OG dominated NRG with a 2-0 sweep, led by Christoffer “Chr1zN” Storgaard’s 1.71 series rating. BetBoom survived two overtimes against Wildcard, with Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhailov sealing the win in his team’s first LAN appearance together. Meanwhile, Nemiga Gaming came from behind on both Ancient and Inferno to upset FlyQuest, with Beksultan “khaN” Ospan and Ivan “zweih” Gogin delivering standout performances.
With three qualification spots still up for grabs, the final day of Stage 1 will see six teams — NRG, Wildcard, FlyQuest, Legacy, TYLOO, and Lynn Vision — battle it out in best-of-three deciders. The winners will move on, and the losers will go home.
